Calyn “Collin” Rieger

Calyn Dean Rieger is a born and raised Minnesotan who later made his home in the Vail Valley. He moved to the valley in 2020 and is now a resident of Vail, Colorado. Raised in a family committed to public service, his father served more than 20 years in the United States Army and National Guard, instilling in Calyn a deep respect for service, national pride, civic responsibility, common sense and community leadership.

Calyn pursued higher education at multiple institutions including Northland Community and Technical College, Bemidji State University, Ripon College, etc. His studies focused on communications, political science, environmental studies, law, and public policy. During this time, he remained active in campus leadership as a Theta Chi alumnus, Future Farmers of America alumnus, and NCAA Division III cross-country and track and field athlete.

His dedication to service includes six years with AmeriCorps. For three years he worked as a crew member in conservation corps programs supporting environmental restoration projects. He later served three years as an alumni council member advocating for expanded resources, funding, youth opportunities, and stronger professional networks for Conservation Corps of Minnesota & Iowa.

He later served as a part time legislative aide at the Minnesota State Capitol, became active in College Democrats, and worked as a field organizer during the 2020 presidential election cycle in Ohio. Since moving to Colorado, he has run for Avon Town Council three times and continues to serve in various leadership roles within the Democratic Party. His work has included coalition building, grassroots organizing, and policy development through roles with the Colorado Democratic Party Platform Committee, as a state delegate and Democratic National Convention delegate, and as Colorado’s representative to the Young Democrats of America.
